Assignment 15#

Q.
Watch all of your videos
What did think as you watched your videos?

A.
I was ashamed of my reflection in the video at first time. whenever her question about a topic was embarrassed me, I touched or hide my face with the paper. I thought that I need to have confidence in speaking English more. Actually, I have to learn English and teaching method of English. I am going to make more effort for my improvement.

How could you have improved what you said - language correction, speaking style, or anything else?

A.
As I wrote the above, there are some problems I need to change. I always think about grammar in the sentence before saying something in English. So, I need to have a little time. I have had difficult in saying something fluently without thinking. After watching the video, I decided to speak loudly and clearly. Also, I know many foreigners don’t care about grammar in sentences when talking to non-native speakers. I think It is necessary for me to make some corrections now.

Post your thoughts as a short blog post.

Final exam part2#

Part#2

Q. It’s the year 2025. Describe a day in your teaching life. Imagine and discuss the role that elements of this course might play in your teaching. Elements include theories, methods, tools, or anything else covered in this course.

A.
I will be a professional teacher in kindergarten in 2025. I have had a lot of experience through this job for 10 years. I am good at treating children and teaching English to them during class. whenever they need to be ready for next class, I use a particular gesture. It is the best method for children I learned 10years ago. Also, I have practiced making a sound clearly with a friend to speak out loud in front of many students. It was helpful for me. I am teaching not only children in the morning class but adults in the afternoon class English.
In case of adults’ class, we have conversation class. I have used a methods of contextualization and groups of three. I let them have groups of 3 or 4 and make a presentation through their previous experience about a topic. there are many adults who is interested in this class nowadays. Also, I always check what they learn in class today at the end of class. It is really important to have this time for a few minutes. I was taught a lot of elements by professors in tesol. Thank you so much!

week14#

Q. What thoughts did you have about the specific things shown in the videos?

Most of the students cannot concentrate on study when I start taking a class. there was a solution in the video. teacher makes them close their eyes in a few second when they start doing something. After this, students share personal time with teacher. they can be calm and ready for learning. In addition, I am surprised at decreasing suspensions. I think It's the best way to focus on the class.

Q. How have you (or others you know) included these in your teaching?
How might use these in your current or future teaching?
  • Starting the Lesson with a Bang
  • Using Guessing Activities
  • Handshake Q & A
  • Fishbowl
  • Dialogue Circles
  • Voice Projection
  • Giving Clear Instructions
  • Teacher Movement and Positioning
  • Using Gestures and Nonverbal Communication
  • Staying Focused on Teaching and Not Being Distracted
  • Dealing with Behavior Issues

I have used handshake Q&A method at the end of every class. there was a academic rules which is similar to handshake Q&A method. I asked them what they learn on that day for review. teachers could check whether students listen carefully or not. It was quite useful for them. I regret that I cannot contact their eyes with handshake in the past. I'd like to use the teaching skill in my future teaching.

Q. What systems of behavior management/discipline do/will you use in your teaching?

I'm impressed with Mo shapiro on speaking speed, clarity of instructions because, I speak rapidly to students during the class. I found that what they focus on in the video is giving the instructions once and see who cannot respond for what I am asking. I need to slow down my speed of words and have nonverbal communication for kids after watching this . Also, I am going to make a gesture to arrange things for moving next step. It can be best signal to do the same things.

Week 10#

Q Which sites and resources were of most/least interest as a langugae learner? why?

A. There are a lot of information about English learning in this site. Especially, I think Studying with video in English is helpful. After watching the VOD at first, learners should type the word listening the sentence again in second step. In my case, I can listen carefully the whole sentence and have fun time with useful contents.

Q Which other sites have been useful to you as a learner or teacher?

A. I know there is one site for kindergarten teacher. beginning teachers make good use of preparing for teaching material and a phonics class.

Q. what did you enjoy about spending time in the computer lab vs the classroom?

A. In my opinion, enjoying about spending time is generally in the computer lab to students because it can take more interesting than studying in classroom. but, using the computer too much is result in bad effects such as straining their eyes, surfing internet or playing game. I suggest that they should be moderate computer users especially, teenagers who are addicted to Internet.

week9# Assignment

Q.Check out some of the resources on on this post and share your thoughts and reflections on a your own blog.

A.
After I watch some videoes in class, I thought every teacher needs to learn how to teach to improve students' learning.  I always wonder how do students fully understand what is taught during classes when I was a teacher. Maybe most teachers are worried about the matter. But, I was surprised at students' improved attitude and results in the flipped learning video. As a result  they can enjoy the class together. I could know It can be changed depending on teaching sttyle  through today's class. Also, student-centered class is much better than teacher-centered. Teacher let them understand what is said in class easily and build
self-confidence. I am going to put more effort into my teaching if i can teach someone English in the future. My goal is enjoying my class with my students as a teacher.

week#6 assignment

Q. post a customized reflection (according to your learning styles) about our Week#6 materials and discussion about Learning Styles.

A. I am a left brain learner and  interapersonal learner.  I've had intrapersonal learning style for a long time because I'd like to work and study alone. Also, there aren't a lot of discussion about the topic in Korea.  we always fouse on what teacher's saying and write down. So, we are unfamilar with class in group with other people. But, I hope my teaching style will be different from learning style when I work in  a teacher in another place. I think most students need to be not  taught teacher centered class but student centered style. They have each style about learning. Teacher just give them some knowledge. They have to accept these things using their learning style. whatever they have, I wish they use properly what they learn.

Your Scores:
  • Auditory: 45%
  • Visual: 40%
  • Tactile: 15%
You are an Auditory learner! Check out the information below, or view all of the learning styles.

Auditory

If you are an auditory learner, you learn by hearing and listening. You understand and remember things you have heard. You store information by the way it sounds, and you have an easier time understanding spoken instructions than written ones. You often learn by reading out loud because you have to hear it or speak it in order to know it.
As an auditory learner, you probably hum or talk to yourself or others if you become bored. People may think you are not paying attention, even though you may be hearing and understanding everything being said.
Here are some things that auditory learners like you can do to learn better.
  • Sit where you can hear.
  • Have your hearing checked on a regular basis.
  • Use flashcards to learn new words; read them out loud.
  • Read stories, assignments, or directions out loud.
  • Record yourself spelling words and then listen to the recording.
  • Have test questions read to you out loud.
  • Study new material by reading it out loud.
Remember that you need to hear things, not just see things, in order to learn well.

Q.
What is your reflection about the Week#4 discussion about Motivation

A.
Motivation is the opportunity which do something harder than before. Having motivation is great for me but, the most important thing is to give many people motivation. Those who have motivation about the activities can be more passionate and energetic than those who don't. I won't find rewards  but the thing I really want and intrinsic interest in the job.  After being a teacher, I would love to guide intrinsic motivation to students.
I can think "do I motivated person?" and it really helps me think about my own life through this discussion.

What materials, tools, and/or sites have been most useful to you as a language learner?

A.
Studying abroad is really helpful for me. I stayed in  Australia for only 10 months. but, that was great opportunity.

Assignments Week2

Week#2 Assignments
Q1. Can you think of times when you learned language by the different historical approaches..
- Grammar Translation Method?
- Audiolingual?
- Communicative Language Teaching?
Answer
When I was a student, I learned both Grammar Translation Method and Audiolingual.
I have to comply with teacher's rules and repeat after her in English class at that time.

Q2. Which have you experienced the most?
Answer
It is necessary for us to have every method. Especially I think we really need Communicative Language Teaching in case of speaking part.

Q3. Give examples of activities that fit into the different methods. In what ways were they effective or not?
Answer
I used reading method with pauses between phrases when I taught students English in academy. As they stuck on the long sentences, interpret sentences by
punctuating them. This method was effective. It is easy for them to understand many sentences.

Q4. How do you balance these approaches as a teacher?
Answer
There are 4 parts in English learning. They are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. I think we should teach them English in different methods depending on each part.
